Brightspark is the official source of information for the fibre to the home roll-out – including updates and materials for developers, builders and homeowners alike.
Who is Brightspark?
Fibre technology and connectivity is not 'owned' by one company. In fact there are three key players involved in the fibre to the home roll-out. They are:
Telecom Wholesale telecomwholesale.co.nz, Telecom New Zealand's Wholesale arm delivers next generation wholesale network connectivity products to service providers throughout New Zealand, and is responsible for the roll-out of the fibre to the home project through the country. It was tasked with finding a pilot partner to target initial homes requiring voice and internet services.
WorldxChange wxc.co.nz, a full service telecommunications carrier specialising in IP solutions, was chosen to provide these services for the pilot phase.
Chorus chorus.co.nz, the network arm of Telecom New Zealand builds and maintains telecommunication infrastructure around the country, with 670 exchange and related service buildings. They manage 130,000 km of copper cables and 20,000km of optical fibre nationwide. Chorus operates Telecom's national service team, with more than 1700 branded vans around the country, carrying out installations, repairs and maintenance (previously these were Telecom branded vans).
